Author Biography Leonide Martin, DrPH, MS, RN, author, teacher and counselor, is an Emeritus Professor in the California State University system. During her academic career, she wrote many professional books. In a post-retirement career, she worked as a Family Nurse Practitioner in a rural clinic, and co-founded Women at the Gateway, providing menopause education and literature. She co-authored popular books for women, including Taking Charge of the Change: A Holistic Approach to the Three Phases of Menopause (Thompson Learning, New York, NY 2002) and Yoga for Menopause (Crystal Clarity Publishing, Nevada City, CA 2005). A spiritual seeker since childhood, Leonide (Lennie) studied mystical Christianity, Goddess spirituality, Hindu and Egyptian-Hermetic traditions. She was part of an intentional community based on the teachings of Yogananda. Drawn to Maya spirituality, she studied with Maya elders, making pilgrimages to sacred sites. Captivated by this great culture, she continues extensive archeological and anthropological research, as well as undertaking shamanic trainings. This foundation makes her uniquely capable of uniting scientific facts with spiritual truths. Leonide is an ordained Priestess of Isis through the Temple of Isis in California, and a Maya Solar Initiate through the lineage of Hunbatz Men, Elder of the Maya Itzá Tradition. She is certified in Intuitive Healing and Archetypal Consulting by Dr. Caroline Myss, authorized to perform Natal Archetype and Sacred Contract sessions. Her passion for the wisdom, cosmology and architecture of the Maya led to writing Dreaming the Maya Fifth Sun: A Novel of Maya Wisdom and the 2012 Shift in Consciousness (Infinity Publishing, West Conshohocken, PA, 2006).
