Leonide (Lennie) Martin
A spiritual seeker since my magical childhood days, I have studied and experienced several spiritual
paths including mystical Christianity, Hindu-Vedanta paths, and Egyptian-Hermetic traditions.
Fifteen years as part of a spiritual community based on the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda, an
Indian master who brought yoga to the U.S., deepened my practices and inner vision. An intense
yearning for the Divine Feminine led to study and ordination as a minister in the Temple of Isis,
from the lineage of Lady Olivia Robertson, Clonengal Castel, Ireland. Through many women's circles
I have rejoiced in celebrating the many faces of the Goddess.
Captivated by the hidden knowledge of the ancient Maya and their high culture, I traveled to many
sites in Guatemala, Belize and Mexico, studying with indigenous elders. One of my spirit guides is
an ancient Maya priestess. I first met her through Satya Sai Baba, when on pilgrimage to honor this
living Indian master. I became a Maya Solar Initiate through the lineage of Hunbatz Man, Maya
Elder of the Itza Tradition. With Maestro Hunbatz, I conduct mystic tours to sacred sites through
Yantours, based in Mérida, Yucatán.
My passion for the wisdom, symbology and architecture of the Maya led to writing the novel,
Dreaming the Maya Fifth Sun, Infinity Publishing, 2006. The story reveals Maya teachings about
the end of the Great Cycle in 2012, and what we must do to usher in the new age. It is the first novel
in the trilogy, Maya Visions.
I found the work of Caroline Myss powerful for personal growth, and took several in-depth
trainings. Through these I became certified in Intuitive Healing, using tools of energy anatomy to
assess and affect physical-emotional health issues; and I am certified in Archetypal Consulting for
assisting people with their Sacred Contracts, casting their natal archetype wheel, and doing
archetypal readings.
Professional Background: Teacher, Writer and Consultant
Archetypal Consultant, Priestess of Isis, Maya Solar Initiate
My profession for many years was nursing, and I am an Emeritus Professor in the Department of
Nursing, Sonoma State University, California. I received a Master's in Nursing from UCLA and
Doctorate in Public Health from UC Berkeley. During my academic career, I wrote several books
and numerous articles. I co-founded Women at the Gateway, providing menopause education and
literature, including the book Taking Charge of the Change: A Holistic Approach to the Three Phases
of Menopause, Thompson Learning, New York, 2002. After retiring from University teaching, I
worked for 15 years as a Family Nurse Practitioner in a rural clinic.
Yucatan, Mexico -- Sacred Land, Mystic Tours
Presently I reside in Mérida, México, capital of the state of Yucatán with my husband, David
Gortner. Living in the sacred Mayan lands, I experience the vibrations, consciousness and echoes
that exude from the stones of ancient sites, the trees and cenotes, the very earth itself. The stones'
whispers and ethereal images guide and inspire my writing.
For those seeking a deeper experience of the Maya, I co-conduct spiritually focused tours with
Hunbatz Men, Maya Elder. Yantours gives visitors a unique way of receiving the profound mystic
teachings incorporated in the Maya culture, archeological sites and cosmovision.
